We've been working at the shop a bit and I'd like to share a
project we did.
This sofa table had
great bones, but was in very rough shape.
The top was scratched, inlay was coming up and it had a couple of
gouges. We tried using a textured wallpaper
and painting it, but it didn't stick. So
we decided to give it a Rustic finish.
First coat was Paris Grey all over and second coat was Old Ochre. We used a very heavy coat of Paris Grey on
the top of the table to get lots of brush stroke texture, and while the paint
was wet, we dusted the top very heavily with sawdust (we learned this in NC at
Training). Let it dry, dusted off the
excess, lightly sanded (to remove loose dust), and then painted over with Old
Ochre. We let it dry and then sanded the
top a bit to remove excess. Then we
clear waxed the whole table, lightly distressing, and then dark waxed over
that. And we might say, it really turned
out great. Love the legs! What do you think?
