Day at the Workshop

Good morning!  One of the tasks required to keep a shop like Paddywac's fun and interesting is working on furniture. Gluing, filling holes, tightening chairs, recovering cushions - it's all necessary. But our favorite of all is getting to paint the pieces. That's when the creative juices start to flow - to look at a piece and say "what color should it be." He's a few projects we've been working on.  What color would you paint these pieces.  We'd love to hear from you.

Now, this vanity is a creamy white, showing off all of its adorable detail.

This desk is a creamy white with distressed blue on the corners and drawers.

This desk needed the top stripped because of all the paint.  It's now a beautiful white.

This very unique pieces doubles as a cabinet, bookshelf/desk.  It was distressed white.

One of two matching side tables with a drawer.  Now they're a sophisticated shabby chic white.

Most of these pieces will be coming into the shop soon.  We hope to see you.

A Vintage Makeover

What a glorious weekend.  The weather was fantastic!  And, we were able to work at the shop for two whole days.  Project after project.  We love the transformations and wanted to share a story of a vintage cabinet makeover.

A few weeks ago, a customer asked if we were interested in an old Hoosier-type cabinet that, although salvageable, was structurally in need of major work.  This piece had been in her family for a long time but now it was time to go. The cabinet was definitely in need of TLC.  There was no back on the bottom, the shelves were unstable, hardware was very dated, and generally it needed cleaning.  Much like a piece or two we seem to accumulate in the garage and forget about.

Tricia went to work on the cabinet.  She put on a new back, glued, rearranged the drawer and shelves, cleaned, and fixed the top shelf.  Then she transformed it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  Primer Red for the base color and Chateau Grey over the top and distressed it.  It turned out absolutely darling!  It could set in a kitchen, serve as a craft center, adorable in a porch!  Come check it out.  We're open on Friday and Saturday, September 28 and 29.

Final step will be the new Hardware.
Hope to see you soon.

September Market Update

There's a bit of a chill in the air and it's easy to feel that the weather is changing.  Time to focus on the inside of our homes for awhile.  Get that nesting thing going in anticipation the even cooler weather to come.

We've been doing lots of work on the inside - we are packed with new furniture and home comfort decor.  Wall items, great gift ideas, inspiration everywhere!  Please visit us this week in Anoka.  It's a great place to shop, work, play.

Hope to see you soon.

A Few "Befores" and "Afters"

What a glorious morning!

After going through a few recent pictures of getting the shop ready, we thought we'd share a few before and after pictures.

Buffet - nice long piece, but it needed a little sprucing up.

This piece is very unique - the paint was chipping off on the side - but it was redeemable.

You can see the can - it also got an Annie Sloan Makeover.

Very pretty, functional dresser (Drexel), but it needed a new clean look.

Enjoy!  Hope to see you soon.
